About Troje & playing kubb

We would like to introduce the game kubb. Kubb, originally a Scandinavian game, is a challenging and dynamic team sport with simple rules and can be played by anyone!

Playing kubb at Troje

Kubb is a game, played outside, where the objective is to knock over wooden blocks, known as 'kubbs', by throwing wooden sticks at them. The word "Kubb" means "wooden block" in the Gotland dialect of Swedish. Kubb can be briefly described as a combination of bowling, petanque and chess.

Play takes place on a small rectangular pitch. The kubbs are placed at both ends of the pitch, and the 'king', a larger wooden block, is placed in the middle of the pitch. Some rules vary from country to country and from region to region, but the ultimate object of the game is to knock over the 'kubbs' on the opposing side of the pitch, and then to knock over the 'king', before the opponent does. Games can last from five minutes to well over an hour. The game can be played on a variety of surfaces such as grass, sand, concrete, snow, or even ice.

Over the past few the years a great club emerged, consisting of a divers group of people. One likes to play every week, the other only tournaments. Fanaticism beneath a froth of friendship, respect, humor and fun.
